On Nerdyness

     You may have already noticed, but I'm a nerd. Nerdyness comes with many benefits. A better understanding of the World around you, the ability to win arguments without being reduced to name calling, and good grades in school. However, it also comes with its drawbacks, including but not limited to: the need to expand your knowledge of the World around you when you should really be getting that math homework done, the need to win any and all arguments - no matter what, and the soul-crushing feeling of receiving anything less than an 85% on your report card.     I mean, for all this talk of "inheriting the Earth," it can be pretty tough being a geek. Between the eternal pain of gym class and the fact that nobody seems to know what an Oxford comma is, nerds deserve some more sympathy for all the suffering they go through in high school.

     That being said, nerds do get some nice perks, like getting to lecture people on what an Oxford comma is, for example. We're the ones who ask questions, because we know there's so much out there to learn. We're the ones who contemplate human existence and curiosity. We're the innovators, the discoverers, and the walking dictionaries. We're the revolutionaries, us nerds. We're the worldsavers.

     What are your thoughts on nerdyness (or is it nerdiness?) Leave your thoughts in the comments below, and don't forget to visit Contemplations on Facebook and Google+.
Ignorance is the curse of God;
knowledge is the wing
wherewith we fly to heaven.
